An ounce converter that asks which ounce.
What this is
oz.fo converts ounces, and the units around them, without guessing. "Ounce" can mean a weight, a US fluid ounce, a UK fluid ounce or a troy ounce, and most converters quietly pick one. This one asks first, or shows you every reading when it cannot tell.
Where the numbers come from
- US customary units and the avoirdupois and troy ounces: NIST Handbook 44 and NIST Special Publication 811, stored as exact values.
- UK imperial units: the Weights and Measures Act 1985, which defines the imperial gallon as 4.54609 litres.
- Ingredient densities: the King Arthur Baking ingredient weight chart and USDA FoodData Central. These are typical values, not guarantees.
Cups, tablespoons and teaspoons are not the same everywhere, so the converter treats them as origin-dependent. A US cup is 236.59 mL and a metric cup is 250 mL. Australia uses a 20 mL tablespoon, which is noted but not modelled.
Privacy
This site sets no cookies and has no accounts or ads. It does not ask for your location. The converter guesses your units from your browser language and time zone on your device, and saves a reading you pick yourself in your browser's local storage. It also counts usage events without identifiers, such as which buttons are tapped, and sends none if your browser has Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track turned on. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver and protect it. Details are on the privacy page.
